Born: December 13, 1982 - Smithers, BC

Position: Defenseman

Western (Jr) Hockey League:

  • Prince George Cougars - 1998-2001

American Hockey League:

  • Milwaukee Admirals – 2002-2003, 2004-2005

National Hockey League:

  • Nashville Predators – 2003-2004, 2005-2010
    Drafted 1st Round, 12th overall, 2001

Note: Due to NHL lockout, the 2004-05 season was cancelled

  • Vancouver Canucks - signed as free agent, 2010

International Hockey (IIHF)

  • Canada, World Junior Championships - 2001-02
    2001 Gold Medal Winner, 2002 Silver Medal Winner
  • Canada, World Championships - 2006-07-08-09
    2007 Gold Medal, Winner 2008 & 2009 Silver Medal Winner

Awards – Amateur Hockey:

  • 2002 Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy, WHL Top Defenseman
  • 2002 Four Broncos Memorial, WHL Player of the Year,
  • 2002 Canadian Hockey League, Defenseman of the Year

Personal Highlights:

  • Like both his parents and grandparents before him, Dan Hamhuis grew up attending church as a youngster.
  • He met his wife-to-be after leaving home to play junior hockey in Prince George.
  • He regards his time spent in Milwaukee (2001-02) as his least favorite year in hockey, although he's extremely grateful for the lessons he learned overcoming adversity
